The Giclée process has evolved to printing photographs using high-resolution, large format ink-jet printers on canvas and other media. The name Giclée is now also referred to as “Archival Pigment Ink (API) prints”, to more clearly indicate the technologies used to make the prints. These API prints use three main technologies; Archival pigment inks, high-resolution large format ink-jet printers and museum-quality, acid free canvas.
